Shopify CSV Import: Images Not Showing Up
The CSV imports without complaint and every product arrives with an empty image slot.
Why it happens
- The header row does not match the field names the importer expects, so the file is read column by column into the wrong fields.
- A value contains an unquoted comma, which shifts every following column on that row.
- A number-only SKU was stored as a number, so leading zeros were dropped before the file was ever exported.
Fix it in four steps
- Export one existing product from Shopify and use that file as the reference for column names.
- Open your supplier file in a plain-text editor and check whether commas inside values are quoted.
- Force identifier columns (SKU, barcode, handle) to text before exporting.
- Import five rows first. Only then run the full file.
Questions people ask
Why does "shopify csv image src missing" happen in the first place?
The header row does not match the field names the importer expects, so the file is read column by column into the wrong fields.
Can I fix it inside Shopify?
The importer validates the file; it does not repair it. The fix always happens in the spreadsheet or before the export.
How do I stop it happening again?
Import five rows first. Only then run the full file.
